Fixed wireless internet that skips the nbn entirely.
A small antenna on your roof, a clear view of one of our towers, and you’re online. No nbn port. No nbn faults. No waiting three weeks for someone else’s technician.
Can we reach your roof?
This is the only thing standing between you and a connection. There’s no address checker to click — send it through and one of us will check line of sight against our tower map by hand, then email you the answer.
Check my address →No obligation, no sales calls. If you’re not in coverage we’ll say so and quote you on nbn instead.
What fixed wireless actually is.
Instead of running your connection through underground copper or fibre, we send it through the air as a radio signal — from a tower we own, to a small antenna we mount on your house.
It’s not mobile broadband and it’s not satellite. It’s a dedicated, fixed link between two points, which is why it’s stable enough to run a household on. And because the whole path belongs to us, there’s no third party to blame when something needs attention.
The catch: it needs a reasonably clear line of sight. Hills, tall trees and neighbouring sheds can block the path. That’s the one thing we have to check before anything else.
Way South fixed wireless vs the nbn.
We sell both, so we’ve got no reason to spin this. Here’s where each one wins.
| Way South Fixed Wireless | Typical nbn service | |
|---|---|---|

How the install works.
Four steps. You’ll deal with the same handful of people the whole way through.
You send the address
We check line of sight against our tower map by hand and reply by email — usually within 1–2 business days. Nothing automated, and no obligation.
Plan & booking
We’ll suggest the plan that fits your household and book an install slot that suits you. There’s nothing to pay to get connected.
Installation day
Our installer mounts the antenna, runs and seals the cable, and sets up the router. Someone needs to be home. Most installs are done inside a couple of hours.
Tested and away
We run a speed test with you watching, connect your devices, and leave you a direct number for support.
Where our towers are
Three towers cover Wynyard and the country around it. Whether we can reach a particular address still comes down to line of sight, so send it through and we’ll check.
Ask anyway. The map moves.
We add towers and capacity as demand builds, and some properties surprise us — a spot on a rise can reach a tower that the house next door can’t. We check every address by hand rather than trusting a radius on a map.
If we genuinely can’t reach you, we’ll tell you straight away and put together an nbn quote instead. Either way you get an answer, not a runaround.
Everything people ask before signing up.
Do I need to cancel my nbn or existing service first?
No — and please don’t. Keep your current service running until ours is installed and tested, then cancel. Because we’re completely separate from the nbn, there’s no clash between the two.
What if I don’t have line of sight?
Sometimes we can solve it with a taller mount or a different position on the roof — our installer will look at the options. If it genuinely can’t be done, we’ll say so up front rather than installing something that won’t perform, and we’ll quote you on an nbn plan instead.
Are the speeds you list what I’ll actually get?
They’re typical speeds, and we aim to deliver them in the busy evening period. What happens inside your house also matters — old Wi‑Fi gear, thick walls, and ten devices streaming at once will all take a bite. We test the connection at the antenna on install day so you can see the real figure.
Can I use my own router?
Usually, yes. Tell us what you’ve got when you enquire and we’ll confirm whether it’ll work with our service.
Is it good enough for gaming and video calls?
Yes. A fixed point‑to‑point link keeps latency low and steady, which is what actually matters for gaming and Teams calls — far more than raw download speed. The Standard and Advanced plans are the ones to look at.
Is the installation really free?
Yes. The site visit, the antenna and mounting hardware, the cable run, and setting up and testing your Wi‑Fi are all included — there’s nothing to pay to get connected, just your monthly plan.
Do I need to be home for the install?
Yes — someone over 18 needs to be there so the installer can get inside to run the cable and set up the router, and so you can approve where the antenna goes.
What if I move house?
Let us know as early as you can. If the new address is in coverage we’ll relocate the service; if it isn’t, you can cancel without penalty or move across to an nbn plan with us.
Can I get a home phone number on it?
Yes — we’re a licensed carrier and can add a VoIP number to your service. Mention it when you enquire and we’ll include it in the quote.
How do I pay?
Monthly in advance, managed through your Way South account portal. Full details are in our Payment Policy and Fixed Wireless Service Policy.
Find out if we can connect you.
Send us the address and we’ll come back by email with a yes or a no, which plan we’d recommend, and how soon we could install.
Send us your address
Street address, best email, and how many people are in the house. We’ll take it from there.

Speeds shown are typical busy‑period speeds measured at the antenna and are not guaranteed. Actual performance depends on line of sight, distance from the tower, your Wi‑Fi equipment, the number of devices in use and conditions outside our network. Fixed wireless availability is subject to line of sight to one of our towers and a successful site assessment. Standard installation is included at no charge.
